Great Northern Railway Company Bridge (NRHP)

The Great Northern Railway Company Bridge is a "Through girder, swing span built ca. 1915 to accommodate tugboat traffic on Steamboat River between logging areas and sawmills." 1

The bridge now carries the Heartland Trail over the Steamboat River in Cass County; the river runs between Steamboat Lake and Steamboat Bay of Leech Lake.

Fall 2013 approach repair work in progress

The span seen above would rotate (swing) 90' to allow timber barge traffic through.
