Garrison Pedestrian Underpass (Bridge 5265) (Historic Roadside Structure and NRHP)

The Garrison Pedestrian Underpass (Bridge 5265) carries the northbound lanes of Highway 169 over a small creek near the north entrance of the Garrison Rest Area.

At construction, pedestrians walked under the highway but above the water on a steel culvert one level above the water. The bridge was built in 1938 by the Mille Lacs Lake CCC camp of Garrison. The underpass led between the Mille Lacs Lake CCC camp and the western shore of the lake.

The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.¹
